9 Months Old

Avery is 9 months old - time is flying by and I need to be better about my blog posts! I want to capture every single possible second with our little peanut because time is so precious!

9 Months Old

Avery had her 9 month Dr's appointment on Monday and she weighed in at 20lbs 9oz (75th-90th percentile), she is 28 inches long (50th-70th percentile) and her head is 17 3/4 round (75th-90th percentile).  She received her final Hepatitis B shot while we were there and Dr. Papaceck was very please with her development.

Avery is crawling up a storm, pulling herself up, she has started to cruise along furniture, she is eating small pieces of food - blueberries, avocados and cherries so far.  She has adjusted her eating times to align with Mommy and Daddy's meal times.  Takes two naps a day and has unlimited smiles and giggles. She loves bath time, playing with all her toys and standing up in the tub.  We have started to change out her toys to more age appropriate toys - this week she received a piano, baby Einstein music maker, tea pot and stacking blocks.  She tries to play with Brisco every chance she gets and he avoids her every chance he gets - it's a love love relationship for Avery and probably a love hate for Brisco.  He likes running around her fast enough where she can't touch him.  Our monthly photo this month was particularly difficult as he wont sit that close to her anymore.

Avery had her first ever fever this month which sent mommy into panic mode. I came home from work and you were very warm.  After using the ear thermometer it said your temp was 97.8 so I calmed down, however after another 30 minutes of you being warm and just quiter than usual I did the real deal temp check (you all know what that means) which came to 101.7.  I immediatly called the pediatrician, who advised to give you motrin and check your temp every hour.  The good news is the motrin worked and you slept through the night.  The next morning you woke up with no temp and happy as ever!!

Happy Mother's Day

It's Mommy's first Mother's Day!!!!

1st Mother's Day

What a wonderful day it was, Daddy really made sure to pull out all the stops!!  The day started with you surprising me in bed with flowers and a latte, my favorite! Then I got to open all my goodies.  Avery is so creative and made me a frame with her hand print, foot print and a photo of herself in the middle - it was just beautiful and is already hanging up in Mommy's office.  You also got me a special glass, Mommy's sippy cup.  Daddy treated Mommy with a new Kate Spade watch, which is so pretty.

After that we played, snuggled and giggled till your nap time.  Once you were up we had some lunch and waited for Nana to arrive.  We opened Nana's present.  Avery gave her a personalized calender with all of your pretty pictures over the last 9 months and Mommy and Daddy gave her a pretty necklace. After presents we face timed with Papa since he couldn't be with us and then headed out to brunch.

We went to our favorite brunch spot for a special occasion, Hub51 has such a nice Mother's Day brunch.  Big buffet and lots of yummy choices.  You were adorable and just learned to shake your head so you were entertaining all the tables around us.

After brunch we went back to the house for your second nap, traffic has been so bad lately that we got home just in time for you to go down.  While you slept, Mommy and Nana went shopping and then to Eataly so Nana could experince it.  We picked up dinner and had a fabulous home cooked meal.  The perfect way to close out my first Mother's Day.

You also facetimed with Bubbie and Grandpa that afternoon, we sent your Bubbie some pretty flowers and a teddy bear since we couldn't spend the day with her.

8 Months Old

Peanut is 8 months old - how is it possible that time is flying by so quickly. I think if I look back every monthly post probably starts that same way.  We started 8 months with our monthly photo session as soon as Mommy got home from work! Brisco is starting to like these sessions less and less and usually only sits with you for a minute now because you think it's so fun to pull his fur.

Photo Session

As the months go by it's amazing how quickly Avery develops and every month it's something new and faster.  At 8 months old we aren't sure of her weight but I'd say she's around the 20lb marker.  She is officially on the move and a speedy little army crawler.  She hasn't quite gotten up on her knees but she's got the army move down! Chasing Brisco around any chance she gets and getting into everything.  That is certainly a game changer on how we spend our days.  Just the other morning I sat her down on her mat so that I could finish getting ready for work and when I turned around she was gone and already into Daddy's closet.

In addition to crawling, Avery loves pulling herself up, whether it's holding hands with us or using the ottoman, if she's in a seated position she can do it - that also means it's time to drop the crib!! Avery has learned how to wave and loves saying hello when she's face timing.

Avery's day at 8 months.  Here's a glimpse into a day as peanut:

6:30-7am: Wake up, Happy, all smiles and excited! Avery has been waking up earlier than usual as of late.  As her days change in activity hopefully she'll go back to her 7am start. Once she's up we get out of bed and have some breakfast.  These days the menu is oatmeal (plain or banana flavored) as well as some pureed fruit and then 2oz of formula.

7:30am - We are no longer as snugly in the morning as we used to be - Avery wants to play and explore right away. Peanut wants to get into everything so I think it's about time to break out the playpen so mommy can get ready to leave for work.

9:30am - 11am - NAP, this has become a pretty consistent schedule for Peanut, sometimes she'll even take a two hour nap.

11:30am - Lunch time!! Avery LOVES food!! Since turning 8 months we have started to introduce more and more foods.  Chicken, corn, cauliflower, strawberries, quinoa, peaches, papaya she'll try anything.  She definitly doesn't love her greens as much as fruits and protein but she'll eat them begrudgingly.  For lunch you'll have a veggie and a starch or two veggies and then she finished with 3oz of formula.

12p-2:30p - Whatever they day brings us! We get dressed, we clean up from lunch bc it's certainly not a clean experience.  Depending on the weather we go for a nice long walk with Brisco, or do some errands with Mommy and Daddy.  Go to the park an explore, explore, explore!

2:30 - 4pm - NAP, 1.5 to 2 hours is your standard nap lately which is great.  Since you've started moving and pulling yourself up you are more tired and knock out the minute you lay down.  The other great thing that you've been doing is you put yourself to sleep.  We rock with you sing the nap song and then lay you down awake in your crib, within 5-10 minutes you are out.  Most of the time without protest but sometime you are more tired and some tears are involved.

4:30pm - Dinner time! This is where we give you a little of everything.  Protein, veggie and fruit as well as 2-3oz of formula. Countdown for mommy to get home from work if it's a weekday.  If it's a weekend you are all over the place getting into everything.  Your new favorite thing is to go up and down the hallway trying to get Brisco.

6pm- Facetime!! Every night when Daddy is traveling we make sure we Facetime with him.  You love it - you know the sound and get so excited to see him. As we get closer to the end of the day sometimes we have to change what room you're in to keep you entertained and happy. You are so curious that you love playing with blocks and stacking things and tearing them down.

7pm - Nighttime routine.  A friend told me very early that the nighttime routine is crucial and will be a part of your schedule for years so we made a point to start a good cycle every night.  We get ready for our bath, play in the tub for around 10 minutes.  Get ready for bed with a nighttime diaper, lots of lotion since it's so dry, turn on the humidifier, put on our pj's and then sit down to enjoy a bottle.

7:30pm - lights out, when you finish your bottle (usually 10oz big girl!!!) we burp, rock in the chair together and turn on your sound machine.  The noises in the city are great bc you'll sleep through anything but I like to have a background of white noise so abrupt noises like car alarms.

Repeat! Repeat! Repeat! It will be fun to see how it continues to change as you get older.
