It's Fall Y'all

It's officially fall here in Chicago!! The temperature is cooler, the leaves are changing and everyone is in their favorite riding boots.  We've been taking advantage of the last few days of nice weather by getting out with peanut and enjoying the fall colors.

We had a nice walk through the park over the weekend with both doggies and got a great picture by the pond.

Sunday Rena, MJ and Andie came downtown and we had a zoo day at Lincoln Park Zoo.  It was Avery's first trip to the zoo and she stayed awake long enough to get a few photos in front of the zoo and then was lights out. MJ had a great time though seeing all the animals.

Since we are going to be in California this weekend we celebrated Halloween a few days early at our house.  Avery dressed up as a candy corn for her first halloween and we also had a pinterest moment carving a pumpkin for her.

Your first Halloween, you dressed up as a candy corn

Next up is your first big trip, we are leaving for California tomorrow - we know you are going to be the perfect little angel on the plane... we hope at least.

Avery's routine at 2 months

As the season changes we adjust to peanuts 2 month old schedule.  We are doing lots of tummy time and she has had her first big milestone, SHE ROLLED OVER!!! It was such a great moment and Dave and I were both here to enjoy it which made it even more special and we got it on video.

So we can all look back and remember fondly on these months I've detailed a typical day for peanut.

Wake up between 6-7am: Eat, have snuggles with mommy in bed and enjoy the Today Show, change our diaper and back down for a snooze.

8-10am: Nap

10am: Eat, diaper change, play on our mat, tummy time, get ready for next nap.

11ish-1pm: Nap

1pm: Eat, diaper change, get dressed for the day in something fabulous, 2nd tummy time for the day, sometimes get in the carrier and take Brisco for a walk around the block.

2-3pm: Nap, at this point in the day our naps start to get much shorter and are lucky to get down for an hour.

3-4pm: Eat, diaper change, playtime, a long walk around the pond or maybe run an errand or two.

5-6pm: second cat nap usually 45 minutes if we're lucky.

6pm-8pm: Eat, diaper change, hang in my swing while mommy does a few things around the house and cooks dinner, take a bath, get ready for bed, eat again and rock to sleep.

Lights out for the night and repeat again and again and again :)

First Family Trip to Goebberts

This Sunday we took Avery to Goebberts pumpkin farm.  It was our first family pumpkin patch visit and Avery was an angel.  We made the trip with our friends Larry and Paula and their daughters Rosie and Caroline Quinn and Thomas and Carolin and their daughter Emma Winter.  It was fun to caravan from the city - even if Larry went under the speed limit in construction zones :)

We had an amazing time and we can't wait to go next year when it will really resonate with Avery. I have been going to Goebberts since I was little and it's amazing how different it is now vs. 25 years ago. They had an entire animal kingdom, camel rides, pony rides, corn maze, pig races and oh yea pumpkins!

Two Months

Two months has flown by and peanut (our official nickname for Avery) is getting so big.  Avery had her two month check up this week at the pediatrician and everything is great.  She weighs 13lbs 2oz, is 23.5 inches long and her head is 16 inches.  She remains in the 90th percentile for all three - it will be interesting to see when she begins to taper off in weight.  She also got five of her vaccinations while we were there, one oral and two shots... she was such a trooper with the shots and cried just a little.  I think that I had a harder time than she did.

Abby had to join the party

We also started having our Nanny Rachel visit with us.  We are very excited to have her be with us, Avery loves her and so does Brisco who is a tough critic to new visitors.

Mommy and Daddy celebrated their four year wedding anniversary on the 16th. The night of we enjoyed an Italian themed dinner at the house and then Friday night we had a night out just the two of us at a new spot in the Gold Coast Nico, it was so delicious.  We had a wonderful time and it was nice to have a little us time.  Peanut stayed home with Rachel for the night. Daddy also gave mommy a beautiful push/anniversary gift - a sapphire and diamond ring and I LOVE IT!!

We noticed that Brisco has been feeling a little down the last few weeks.  I guess somewhat expected but even with his buddy Abby staying with us for three weeks he's still down.  Dave has been giving him so extra love when he gets home from work even if it's late.  We are also gearing up to head to Cali in a two weeks for the Breeders Cup - Private Prospect is getting ready two and goofing around a little two.

Happy Birthday Auntie Britini

It was my besties birthday celebration this weekend and even though Avery didn't get to join us she was thinking of her godmother all night! We headed to Pinstripes to celebrate and we had THE BEST time.  We bowled, had drinks and really good food.  We divided everyone into two teams to have a friendly competition... team 1 won after two games (mommy was on team 2, daddy was on team 1) so it was a divided household.

Britini had a great time and that was the goal of the night for the birthday girl! It was mommy and daddy's first night out together, miss Avery stayed home with Nana and Papa and had a wonderful time.  Nana says she gets a D in swaddling but soon enough you wont be sleeping in one so it wont really matter.

Next up, Mommy and Daddy's Anniversary and
Next group event....FRIENDSGIVING!!

We're having to much fun to blog

I've been bad about my posts I know but little miss Avery keeps me a busy bee!! Where to begin... since the blessing it's been life as usual here at the Walters.  We've been working on Avery's napping routine and making sure she's getting enough sleep - there is a quick window when she goes down easy and I'm still working on when that is... today I hit the mark both times and she's slept well!! Yah!!

I forgot to include some other pictures from when all of our family was in town for the blessing, here are a few more from the night before.

Papa and I went to a consignment sale up in Barrington and got a few things for their house for when we visit as well as a BOB jogging stroller - it was a great fine. He also loved the Papa Avery time he got to have with her since he's been in Florida.

We have made sure to take lots of walks, Nana came down on Wednesday and babysat while mommy went to an appointment. We had our nanny Rachel come by to hang with Avery for a couple of hours, she officially starts on Monday.

I've been scolded for more photos of the little peanut so here's new ones for everyone to enjoy.
