Avery 21 Months

21 Months have come and gone - our little Avery is more and more a little person.  She has a very determined personality that can be shy at time but boy does she know what she wants!

Rachel has made sure that every week there is a craft project that is going on and this one was making a bird house out of a milk carton, which you loved.  You painted it yourself, put on the stickers, filled it with seed and then picked out where to hang it.  Unfortunately we didn't anticipate the bugs eating the milk carton so we'll have to replace with a sturdier version later this summer.

Daddy was home earlier from work on day this month so he decided to bring you downtown to Mommy's office and visit with everyone and then we went and had a yummy dinner after the visit.  It was so cute to have you running around the office, everyone loves when you visit.

We also decided to plant a little herb garden on the deck.  We bought mint, basil, chives, rosemary, dill, cilantro and a tomato plant.  Avery is excited to water them every day.

Unfortnatly this month Avery got very sick and came down with Strep throat.. at first we thought it was a bad cold but after throwing up we called the dr and insisted a visit, even though they told us it was unlikely she would have it.  Sure enough she did and so did Rachel.  Mommy spent two days at home after that making sure everyone got better.  Brisco was a good doggie and didn't leave your side all day. Mommy also let you watch TV pretty much all day since that was all that you wanted to do besides snuggle.

we didn't make it to bed for a nap, the basement floor was fine.

Once we kicked our strep, we were on to the next adventure.  We've started doing a little shopping for baby boy, although mommy is having a really hard time picking items out.  Avery thought this rocker was perfect for her little brother.

Morning snuggles before mommy left for work.

Playtime at Gymboree

Back to play dates with Emma

Daddy and Rachel had a very sweet Mother's Day all ready to go for Mommy.  Avery made Mommy an adorable apron for cooking with her hands as flowers and her feet as a butterfly.  She also colored a water bottle for mommy to use at work which i loved.  We went to our usual Hub51 for brunch which wasn't the same with Nana still in florida.

Starting to get comfortable with sitting on our training toilet, no action yet.

20 Months Old

Avery is approaching her second birthday just four months away! It's amazing how much she learns and changes every month as we get closer to true toddle land!!

Her daily routine is so regimented at this point it's really something she expects.

7am Wake up, followed by breakfast
-These days we rotate between waffles, oatmeal, fruit and yogurt
-After that if it's a week day we go upstairs and snuggle with Momma before she gets ready for work and then Avery gets to watch a Paw Patrol or Mickey Mouse episode. If it's a weekend sometimes we let her watch a 30 minute show or we start playing in the family room.
- Then we head upstairs and let her pick out her outfit, we usually give choices - these days she loves playing in her castle she got for Easter, running in it and hiding and coming out and going back in.
- The rest of the morning is a variety of things depending on the weather and mood, playdates with Emma, Park time, Library story time, coloring, painting, playing with playdough, playing outside with cars.
12 Lunch time, followed by nap time
- Avery is starting to become a little more picky with what she eats - one day she likes grilled cheese the next she doesn't so that has really kept us on our toes.  She loves rice right now which is funny so we've been trying to hide veggies in there as much as possible.
1-3p is Nap Time, sometimes that varies depending on the day.
3p - Post nap, sometimes we read in our room, take brisco for a walk, go to the park or run an errand
530-6p Dinner time - struggling sometimes with what foods she will eat.  Rachel one day had to feed everything to Mickey before Avery would eat it.  We are getting creative.
745-8p - Bedtime - we take a bath every night, read books, snuggle and then hop into bed.

Finger painting

organizing tupperware lids

playing with Mickey

Climbing on the couch

We've had lots of play dates with Emma sometimes two or three a week depending on how everyone is feeling.

Being silly in front of the house

Waiting for Emma in mommies boots

Hiding under the sink :)

On the weekends we try to keep ourselves as busy as we can.  On Saturdays, Dave takes Avery to family Gymboree, sometimes Mommy goes but it's a nice time for the two of them to enjoy together. On Sunday's we go to swim class every week.  Avery is getting much more comfortable about going underwater and floating on her back.  Every night in the tub she practices her back floats.
