And just like that it's the holiday's! Right after Gavin's big one month moment, we rolled right into family time for Thanksgiving. Your Great Aunt Jane came into town from Ohio and Nana and Papa came home from Florida to spend the holiday in Chicago. Mommy wasn't quite ready to travel with a four week old.
Your hat kept falling down over your eyes and we had no idea since you were in the back seat
Avery and Brisco snuggling with Daddy
We decided to make our lives a bit easier and catered food from Whole foods this year. It was and it wasn't easier. We still needed to heat everything and get plates out and do dishes etc.
Aunt Jane and Gavin
This was the only way you would let mommy get anything done
It was the best group shot i could get while holding a one month old - we will do better at Christmas
Having fun with snapchat
The Sunday after Thanksgiving we headed up to Barrington for the day to enjoy the Christmas brunch at BHCC. Since Avery was born I have wanted to attend this brunch because it is so adorable and there's a minimal line for Santa but we've either been in Minnie or Florida. This was the year. We got all dressed up and packed up the car and headed out.
Avery in her adorable winter coat
The whole gang back there including Brisco
They had a gingerbread making area in the entire downstairs so after brunch and meeting Santa we headed down to make a gingerbread house. Avery ate more than she made but we had a great time building one with her.
Papa adding snow to the top of the house
Our sweet girl so excited to start
Giving Mickey some treats
We didn't want to sit on Santa's lap but we let him stay in the photo
Everyone joined! No question she'll sit on Papa's lap
Starting to get cold so we are bundling up for our walks
We all of a sudden fell into potty training the week after Thanksgiving. Avery has been sort of interested in her potty for the last few months but we hunkered down and pretty much stayed house bound for a week starting on Monday. She had three accidents, two on Monday and one on Tuesday and then after that she was a rock star!! By Friday she was done with diapers. #2 was definitly more of a challenge than #1 - she took another week to get comfortable with going #2 in her little potty. But we found a few videos that she really liked watching about going #2. Within three weeks she will go her whole nap and wake up dry and let's us know whenever she has to go potty. We are so proud of her!! And so happy to only have one in diapers.
The week after Thanksgiving Papa had a few meetings in the city so he stopped by to visit. I just love this photo of Papa and Gavin together. Such a sweet picture of our sleeping baby.
Gavin sleeping on the changing table. Ironically Avery did the exact same thing at about the exact same age. They look more and more like each other it's really remarkable to continue to compare Avery/Gavin photos.
